Bed Linen Duvet Covers

Not everyone knows what a duvet cover is.  Back in the day, when my grandmother was my age, you never heard the term "duvet cover".  Now a duvet cover is a popular item, because it really makes a lot of sense, because a duvet cover can be used to protect some of your finest bedding, such a your king comforter, quilt or blanket.  You actually can look at a duvet cover as an envelope, which you place a piece of bedding in.

Duvet covers are easy to remove for cleaning.  Some need dry cleaning and others can be machine washed.  Most duvet covers have buttons, snaps or decorative tie enclosures along one side.  They keep inner bedding cleaner for much longer and it helps prevent wear and tear.  They are available in twin, full, queen, king and california king.  Duvet covers are sold separately and sold in bedding sets.

Sports Team Bedding

You know what is great about sports team bedding, it isn't just bedding that is available.  You can typically get a queen/full or twin size comforter, sheets, a bed skirt, window valances or drapes with tie backs.  That sounds like enough doesn't it?  Well it doesn't stop there, you can also buy decorative pillows and shams, a wall decoration of your favorite team, a bed rest pillow and vinyl peel & stick border for your walls.  You can even purchase a border for your bathroom, to match your favorite teams vinyl shower curtain.  Then if you decide that you have to leave your bedroom for a night to travel with your favorite sports team, make sure to bring along your neck roll pillow for the ride in the car, your teams sleeping bag and your tailgating apron and matching mitt.

Bed Linen and the Benefits of Bamboo Sheets

Your bed sheets really are an important part of the overall bedding items used on a bed, because that is what is against your skin when you sleep.  The higher the quality bed sheets used, the happier you will be when you’re tucked in for the night. So many of us focus on what is on the outside of the bed, like the comforter or the bed skirt.  The softness of the sheets is going to determine how well you sleep. Buying sheets is not quite as easy as it used to be because there are so many different kinds of fabric. You may go to a store thinking you want plain white cotton sheets or a polyester/cotton blend only to realize that there are so many more selections than that.   Have you ever wondered what bamboo sheets are and did you ever think about buying them, but hesitated because you didn’t know what you were buying?  I am going to explain what bamboo sheets are and their benefits.

100% bamboo sheets are 60% more absorbent than cotton.  Less pesticides are used when growing bamboo vs. cotton and bamboo is naturally irrigated making them environmentally friendly and perfect for people with allergies or chemical sensitivities. Bamboo is also very resistant to dust mites.  Bamboo sheets are comfortable in all temperatures.  Bamboo is much softer than cotton and is actually one of the softest fabrics in the world.  Bamboo cotton sheets hug the body just like silk sheets do.  Bamboo sheets are also easy to care for.  They are machine washable in cold water.  Delicate cycle with mild detergent, no bleach and tumble dry on low heat.

Remember, bed sheets are a critical factor in feeling the quality of your bed, and as we spend on average one third of our life there, we may as well make it as comfortable as possible, so buy good quality bed linen so you can get the good night rest that you deserve!

White Themed Bed Linen

White bedrooms are associated with purity and serenity.  If you are looking for a relaxing space in your bedroom, then choosing a white king comforter set might be a place to begin.  Before deciding on a white bedroom, be sure to take a few things into account.  White bed linens will have to be washed more often, adding a little extra work to your busy schedule.  Do you have children or animals?  If so, how often will they be in your room?  Also with a white bedroom, you will have to clean it more often, since it will show the dirt more quickly.  If all of this has been taken into account and you feel that a white bedroom will work for you, then here comes the fun part.  First, you will want to pick out your bed linens, first and for most, your king comforter.  You will then need to pick out your accessories to match your comforter set, such as window valances, sheets and decorative pillows.  If you don't like having to pick out individual pieces of bedding, then you may want to purchase a bed in a bag, which has all your bedding needs in just one bag!  A white themed bedroom will give you a truly unique, simplistic environment.  No other colors can replicate the serene look and feel of a white bedroom.

What Size is Your Bed Linen?

I am sure most of you have owned, or own a comforter for your bed..  If someone was to ask you what size your comforter was, you would probably answer as either a king comforter,  a queen comforter etc...but you probably are not to sure of the actual measurement of your comforter.   This is helpful information to know because you want to be sure that when you purchase a comforter, that it can actually cover your mattress.  A standard mattress depth is 7-9 inches and a deep mattress is 10-15 inches deep.  Depending on the thickness of a comforter will also depend on what size comforter you need to purchase.  Just because you have a queen size bed, doesn't mean that a queen size comforter will automatically fit.  Below is a chart with sizes to help purchasing your next bedding set much easier.

COMFORTER SIZE   MATTRESS SIZE   COMFORTER WIDTH  COMFORTER LENGTHS
(in inches)                       (in inches)                          (in inches)

The "New" Baby Bedding

Baby bedding is not like it used to be.  Years ago, it was practical, and sometimes pretty, but nothing like it is today.  We used to go out and buy blue or green baby bedding for boys and pink or yellow for girls.  Well times have definitely changed, and not only are you buying a fancier look, but you are also able to choose colors that truly are unique.  Some popular colors for babies bedding is black and white, brown and pink and brown and green crib bedding.  The brown and pink bedding would be for a girl, but brown and green bedding can be neutral, depending on the actual pattern of the material.  The nice thing about the black and white bedding is that it is very versatile. If you have a girl first, then you can accent the nursery using feminine colors, such as pinks and yellows.  If your next child is a boy, you won't have to go out a buy new crib bedding, you will only have to change the room accents.  Try to be open minded when choosing a bedding set for your child's nursery,  because you no longer have to use the standard baby colors that we are all used to.  Choosing more of the "new" neutral colors can not only save you money, but it can also give you a more up to date look in your new nursery!

3 Categories of Kids Bedding

Kids bedding is mainly categorized into three sections, which is girls bedding,
boys bedding and teenage bedding.   Whatever stage of life your child is at, many of the same items can come with a bedding set.  A full array of  bedding accessories accompany a comforter set or quilt.  Those accessories can include sheet sets, window drapes or valances, decorative pillows and some even offer wall hangings and lamps. When you purchase a bedding set that includes many items, it can make decorating a whole lot easier.  Besides making the decorating easier, kids seem to really like having the matching bedroom accessories better than mismatched items.
