Different Ways to Buy Bedding Sets

Bed ensembles, which are also referred to as "bed in a bag" are different than comforter sets.  A bed ensemble or "bed in a bag" include the sheets, but a comforter set does not.  A comforter set typically includes; the comforter, 2 shams and a bed skirt, also known as a dust ruffle.  There are 3 ways to purchase bedding.  You can purchase a comforter set, a bed ensemble or "bed in a bag" or you can purchase individual pieces.  A complete bed is made up of either a comforter or quilt, a blanket, pillow shams, flat and fitted sheets with pillowcases and a bed skirt, also known as a dust ruffle.  The way bedding sets are purchased largely depends on what an individual shopper is looking for, and whether or not they can find what meets there needs when buying a comforter set or bed ensemble.  If a shopper cannot find what they are looking for in a bedding set, that is when items are typically purchased individually.

Black & White Comforter Sets

There is something about black and white in a bedroom that is so inviting.  You can get really tired of looking at the same colorful comforter set and it can be hard to "change" the look in your room, because everything has to match your comforter set.  With black and white bed linen, you can put so many different colors with it.  You can change the look by taking away your winter pillows of maroons and purples, and put your yellow and green pillows out to brighten the bedroom in the Spring.  Changing the pillows does not mean you have to change the other decor, because  black and white is so versatile.  Black and white can also be dressed up to be more masculine or feminine, again making this color choice very flexible when decorating any bedroom. Five Sizes of Bed Linen

There are five basic size mattresses, which do not include kids bedding and baby bedding.   There is the twin, full, queen, king and California king size mattress.  There is the twin size mattress,  that is 39 inches wide and 75 inches long.  The twin mattress also comes in an 80 inch length, which is referred to as a twin x-large.  The twin mattress is typically used for children. The full size mattress is 54 inches wide and 75 inches long.  Years ago, the full mattress was used in master bedrooms, but is now most typically used as a step up mattress for children, especially girls.  The queen size mattress is 60 inches wide and 80 inches long and is actually the most popular bed size.  The king size mattress is the same length as the queen mattress, but it is 16 inches wider for a total width of 76 inches.  That 16 inches can make a big difference in whether or not a bed can fit into a room, therefore, making the queen mattress the most popular bed size.  The newest size bed, which is growing in popularity, is referred to as the California king mattress, and was initiated in California.  The California king mattress is 72 inches wide and 84 inches long, so it is 4 inches narrower than the king size mattress, but it is 4 inches longer.  Consumers need to be careful when purchasing bed linens for a California king mattress, especially when choosing fitted sheets and bed skirts, because those items are made to fit a more standard size mattress.

The Importance of the Master Bedroom

Did you know that the master bedroom is the most important room in the whole house?  If you are an Oprah follower, I am sure you have heard this once or twice.
